San Francisco International Animation Showcase

October 12–15
Phyllis Wattis Theater, SFMOMA

One of the most fertile and creative genres in cinema and television, animation is a hub for cross-pollination among artistic, commercial and industrial media. It encompasses visual and special effects, art-house films and children’s cartoons. These screenings explore the breadth of animation with eclectic programs of feature-length and short films. Thursday and Saturday highlight the latest technical, aesthetic and narrative techniques in animated film production. Sunday’s lineup contains an assortment of family-friendly fare.
