New Italian Cinema Returns to San Francisco

San Francisco, CA – New Italian Cinema returns to San Francisco this November with an eight-day showcase of contemporary Italian cinema, with Italy’s top debuting filmmakers in attendance. The all-Italian series opens on Sunday, November 12 with director Marco Bellocchio in person for the premiere of his spirited new film, The Wedding Director, starring Sergio Castellitto. The competitive section of New Italian Cinema which begins the next day includes seven feature-length films and seven shorts which give audiences an opportunity to not only view the best of Italy’s new movies, but also to select the winners of the City of Florence Awards for best short and best feature-length film.
New Italian Cinema is presented by the Florence-based New Italian Cinema Events in cooperation with the San Francisco Film Society, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Italy. The annual program also tours to New York, Amsterdam and Moscow.
