SAN FRANCISCO FILM SOCIETY INITIATES SEARCH FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

San Francisco, CA - The San Francisco Film Society is undertaking
a global search for an executive director to lead the organization
to the 50th anniversary of the San Francisco International Film
Festival and beyond. Melanie Blum, president of the Film Society's
board of directors, announced that the board is "seeking an
individual who shares the vision of the board and staff and will
work closely with both to continue the excellent programming that
the Film Festival has presented over the past 48 years, while looking
for new ways to educate, entertain and enrich our audiences. We

The Film Society is growing and launching exciting new activities
including expanded year-round film screenings and educational programs,
and most recently initiated an annual State of Cinema address and
the Kanbar Award honoring excellence in screenwriting. The recently
concluded 48th San Francisco International Film Festival screened
185 films from 49 countries for audiences totaling 77,000. Plans
are well underway for the run-up to the 50th anniversary of the
oldest film festival in North America in 2007.
The San Francisco Film Society is a nonprofit arts and educational
organization dedicated to celebrating international film and the
moving image.
