San Francisco Film Society Presents SF360 Film+Club: Daft Punk at Mezzanine Featuring the San Francisco Premiere of Electroma

SF360 Film+Club Takes Movies out of the Theater and Puts Them in a Club

August 1, 2007

The San Francisco Film Society’s SF360 Film+Club, a monthly social screening series, returns to Mezzanine (444 Jessie Street at Mint), on Monday, August 20, for the San Francisco premiere of the Daft Punk sci-fi film Electroma.

“Daft Punk couldn’t possibly mean all things to all people,” says Sean Uyehara, programming associate of the Film Society. “But that doesn’t mean that they won’t try. If you like Daft Punk, want to know Daft Punk—if you ARE Daft Punk—Electroma is for you.”

Electroma (2006) tells the history of two robots, played by Daft Punk’s Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich, on their quest to become human. Naturally, this low-fi, sci-fi tale takes place in the western climes of America and beyond. Electroma played at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival in May and has since played at festivals in Argentina, Australia and England.

Doors open at Mezzanine at 7:00 pm, program starts at 7:30 pm. Complimentary tasting provided by Chartreuse from 7:00–8:00 pm. Tickets are $8.00 at the door or $5.00 if reserved in advance by emailing info@sf360.org. Must be 21+ to attend.

Following the screening there will be a robot rock after-party featuring Riot in Belgium live, the Gang Bang DJ’s, Dandi Wind, Richie Panic and Jefrodisiac.

In the future look for these programs: Silent Shout featuring The Knife; Screaming Masterpiece, a documentary about Iceland's contemporary music scene featuring interviews and performances from Björk, Sigur Rós, Múm and more; and an evening of skateboard films including Stuntwood: The Birth, Life and Death of a Skateboard.

SF360 Film+Club: Daft Punk is presented by the San Francisco Film Society, Mezzanine and Rehab, and is sponsored by SF Weekly, 7x7 and Chartreuse.
