OPENING NIGHT
Thursday, April 17
THE SECRET LIVES OF DENTISTS
, directed by Alan Rudolph and starring Campbell Scott, Hope Davis and Robin Tunney delves into the ordinary lives of husband-and-wife dentists who are ripped out of their complacency by boredom, infidelity and Denis Leary. After the curtain closes on the big screen, join the party at the meticulously restored Beaux-Arts style Ferry Building, originally built in 1898 and under restoration for three years. The Film Society will be one of the first groups to enjoy this stunning San Francisco landmark celebrating Opening Night of the 46th San Francisco International Film Festival in true cinematic style. Alan Rudolph, Campbell Scott, Hope Davis, Denis Leary and Robin Tunney are all confirmed to attend.

L'AUBERGE ESPAGNOLE
directed by Cédrich Klapisch and starring Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Judith Godrèche and Cecile de France. Barcelona, the city of eternal sun and love, is the star of this joyous romance with (in a small, but significant role) Tautou, the star of AMELIE, and set in a chaotic home for international exchange students. After the film, treat your senses to an evening of dancing to the seductive sounds of DJ Aykut, drinks and delectable treats while lounging at San Francisco's newest hot spot, Whisper. The multiple dance floors, fireside lounge and rooftop terrace have all the makings for a hot night. Ticket price includes film, hors d'oeuvres, and two complimentary drinks. FILM SOCIETY AWARDS NIGHT
Wednesday, April 23
The Film Society Awards Night, San Francisco's very own version of the Golden Globes, is a magical evening of food and wine featuring a dramatic awards ceremony. Converge with celebrities, leaders in the film industry and San Francisco's elite in The Ritz-Carlton's opulent Ballroom. This prestigious event awards legends of cinema for their brilliant contribution to the industry and features tributes from friends and peers. This year Dustin Hoffman will collect the Peter J. Owens Award, which honors an actor whose work exemplifies brilliance, independence and integrity, and Robert Altman will be awarded the Film Society Award for his legendary achievement in directing. Dance to the music of the Dick Bright Orchestra at this black tie affair. No cameras please. Film Society Awards Night is a benefit fundraiser for the San Francisco Film Society.

CLOSING NIGHT

DOPAMINE
directed by Mark Decena and starring John Livingston, Sabrina Lloyd, Rueben Grundy and Bruno Campos. Is it the moonlight, or just my neurotransmitters? This fresh take on the romantic comedy, filmed in San Francisco asks: Can love bloom when she believes it's chemistry and he thinks it's chemical? Regardless, the high continues as we get behind the scenes with cast and crew, turn down the lights on No. 46 and frolic at Bimbo's 365 Club - San Francisco's favorite plush nightspot since the 1930's. Enjoy music, dancing, tastes from Bay Area restaurateurs and delicious cocktails. Ticket includes closing night program, film and entry to the party with two drink tickets, entertainment and hors d'oeuvres at the home of the "Girl in the Fishbowl."

The 46th San Francisco International Film Festival runs April 17-May 1, 2003 at the AMC Kabuki 8 Theatres "The Home of the Festival", the Castro Theatre, the Pacific Film Archive Theater in Berkeley and the CinéArts at Palo Alto Square in Palo Alto. Advance ticket packages and Festival passes go on sale beginning February 17. Individual tickets for San Francisco Film Society members will be available beginning March 25, with individual tickets for the general public available starting March 31. The Main Box Office, located in the atrium of the AMC Kabuki 8 Theatres at 1881 Post Street will open for Film Society members on March 25 and for the general public on April 1. The 46th San Francisco International Film Festival (April 17-May 1, 2003) is presented by the San Francisco Film Society, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to lead in expanding the knowledge and appreciation of international film art and its artists by showcasing the most compelling, thought-provoking international films, special tributes, major restorations and today's brightest stars.
