San Francisco Film Society and Film Movement Present SF360 Movie Night Featuring Sandrine Bonnaire’s Moving Documentary Feature Her Name Is Sabine

One City, One Movie, One Night: Film Fans Across the Bay Area Invited to Host House Parties and Watch Powerful New French Documentary

November 19, 2007

San Francisco, CA—The San Francisco Film Society, in partnership with Film Movement, presents the return of SF360 Movie Night, a citywide film screening on November 20. The beautiful documentary Her Name Is Sabine directed by Sandrine Bonnaire will screen at house parties and community venues citywide followed by a wrap party at 9:30 pm at Tosca Café, 242 Columbus Avenue.

Her Name Is Sabine is an intelligent, moving and beautiful portrait of Sabine, a 38-year-old autistic woman, filmed by her sister, the celebrated French actress Bonnaire (Vagabond, SFIFF 1986; Monsieur Hire, SFIFF 1990; The Color of Lies, SFIFF 2000). Using personal footage filmed over a period of 25 years, this very intimate film sends an urgent message to a society that still does not properly take care of its citizens with physical and psychological disabilities.

Film Movement is an independent distribution company with a monthly DVD subscription club that provides early access to award-winning independent and foreign film. Her Name Is Sabine is available at Film Movement.

The Film Society and Film Movement invite the Bay Area film community to convene following the screenings for a discussion and celebration at Tosca at 9:30 pm.

SF360 San Francisco Movie Night is part of the SF360 series of initiatives launched by the San Francisco Film Society in early 2006, designed to strengthen and promote the San Francisco film and media scene in all its various and exciting forms. In addition to Movie Night, initiatives include SF360.org, the daily online magazine covering the Bay Area media scene; SF360 live panels and discussions; SF360 Movie Scene, the monthly television show broadcast on ComcastSF Channel 11; and SF360 Film+Club, monthly screenings at Mezzanine.

The San Francisco Film Society, presenter of the 51st San Francisco International Film Festival (April 24–May 8, 2008), is a nonprofit arts and educational organization dedicated to celebrating film and the moving image.
