San Francisco Film Society Presents SF360 Film+Club: The Knife: Silent Shout–An Audio Visual Experience and R. Kelly Sing-Along Reprise at Mezzanine
SF360 Film+Club Takes Movies Out of the Theater and Puts Them in a Club
December 3, 2007
San Francisco, CA - The San Francisco Film Society’s SF360 Film+Club, a monthly social screening series, reconvenes at Mezzanine (444 Jessie Street at Mint) 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 19 with the live music extravaganza The Knife: Silent Shout–An Audio Visual Experience, directed by Marius Dybwad Brandrud. The film brings to life the full stunning audiovisual spectacle of one of the most cutting-edge live shows in the world. Then, on January 25, also at 7:00 pm, Film+Club will present the reprise of its wildly successful Trapped in the Closet Sing-Along with guest curator and host Henri Mazza of the Alamo Draft House Cinema of Austin, Texas.
“Fans of the Knife will want to see and hear their live film in the kind of environment in which it was intended to be played. This screening will give them that chance,” says Sean Uyehara of the Film Society. “Also, I know you are kicking yourself for missing the last R. Kelly Sing-Along. Life is too short for regrets.”
In 2006, the critically acclaimed Swedish band, the Knife, performed live for the first time. The show, which presents an immersive and synesthetic experience of visual music, instantly garnered the group a reputation for innovation. Featuring the work of visual effects artist Andreas Nilsson, the Knife performs in masks and sometimes silhouetted behind screens, while making use of sculptural laser lights and animation to bolster the group’s foreboding, apocalyptic musical aesthetic. Preceded by music videos and a short film, When I Found the Knife.
Doors open at Mezzanine at 7:00 pm, program starts at 7:30 pm. Complimentary tasting of RCV vodka will begin at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $8 at the door or $5 if reserved in advance by emailing info@sf360.org. Must be 21+ to attend.
SF360 Film+Club is presented by the San Francisco Film Society, Mezzanine and Rehab, and is sponsored by SF Weekly, 7x7, and RCV vodka.
The San Francisco Film Society, presenter of the 51st San Francisco International Film Festival (April 24–May 8, 2008), is a nonprofit arts and educational organization dedicated to celebrating film and the moving image.
