Responsibilities
Reporting to the marketing and membership coordinators, the marketing and membership intern will be responsible for updating and expanding our existing marketing and membership databases with an emphasis on understanding demographic profiles of Bay Area media outlets (print, radio, television). Ideally, the intern will gain knowledge and expertise in several areas of marketing and membership and make recommendations to staff for mailings and outreach. The intern will assist in SFIFF promotional material production, distribution and research. Responsibilities also include assisting in the distribution of SFFS material throughout the Bay Area; data entry; media research and reporting for the Film Society’s community outreach, distribution, public service announcement, award ballot and survey initiatives. And finally, the internship will include customer relations responsibilities, which require being well-versed in all aspects of the Film Society as well as a maintaining a professional demeanor. This position does include some evening availability.
Qualifications
• Minimum part time commitment 20–30 hour week (three days a week).
• Detail-oriented, able to take instruction, take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of local community outreach organizations an asset.
• Familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area geography a plus.
• Professional demeanor. The intern represents the Film Society when speaking with customers and media outlets.
• Outgoing and friendly personality.
• Must be able to express oneself clearly, thoroughly and politely.
• Must be able to work some evenings.
• Access to vehicle preferred. If do not have vehicle, must have valid drivers license and insurance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Macintosh. We are looking for a Word wiz.
• Proficiency with graphic design programs a plus. Ability to create graphic documents using Word or GIMP.
• Proficiency in Web applications and HTML a plus.
• Fluency in English required.
