Positions Available
51st San Francisco International Film Festival

The 51st San Francisco International Film Festival takes place April 24–May 8, 2008. We are seeking staff, volunteers and interns to work on all aspects of the Festival. Following is a list of Festival job titles and job descriptions. Positions last anywhere from two weeks to four months.

Box Office Assistant
Assists box office coordinator with all aspects of job during Festival.
Approximate dates: April 14–May 9

Box Office Cashiers
Friendly, outgoing people with the following skills are needed to staff the Festival box office: excellent customer service; data entry; excellent cash handling skills with the ability to balance; accurate typing; an eye for detail and good spelling. Previous box office experience is a plus, but not required. Must be available to work TBD date in March to participate in mandatory training session before the box office opens.

Front Desk
Provides support for the administrative and operations departments. Tasks include answering and directing phone calls, receiving and sending mail and packages, ordering of office supplies, maintaining office machines, maintaining reception and kitchen spaces and basic database entry. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office and FileMaker, a valid driver’s license and the ability to work with many people and keep a pleasant disposition. Great personality a huge plus.
Approximate dates: March 3–May 23

Guest Services Manager
Management position in charge of the guest services department, supervising two coordinators and working with the special guest coordinator and transportation office. Previous experience in making large-scale travel and accommodation arrangements is necessary. Responsibilities include communication with and coordination of guests and their itineraries; database management; scheduling, training and supervising volunteers and interns; communicating with other departments concerning guest arrangements; managing and staffing the guest services office in the Hospitality Suite during the Festival; post Festival follow-up, including written final report. Skills: FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong managerial abilities and experience including budgeting required. Applicants should also have excellent organizational skills, energy and a positive attitude. Knowledge of foreign languages a plus. Reports to director of programming.

Venue Operations Assistants
Will assist hospitality coordinator with all aspects of the job.
Approximate dates: April 7–May 9

Video Producer
Coordinates a team to produce daily 3–5 minute segments of video taken at the Festival and broadcast on the Festival Web site. Must have a experience in organizing for production a team of videographers, a production assistant and an editor, including scouting and scheduling. Must be available every day of the Festival, and must be able to participate in planning in the weeks prior to the Festival.

Technical Assistants
Assist the technical coordinator. Skills: Knowledge of film and video projection and sound and lighting systems. Work with film projectionists, technical coordinator, theater operations manager and house managers to ensure smooth technical running of programs. Set up and operate sound equipment. Assist technical coordinator with equipment movement and setup.

House & Floor Theater Managers
Skills: Ability to work with people. Work with film projectionists, programmers, theater operations manager and floor staff to ensure that films start on time and that any technical difficulties are addressed immediately; train and supervise volunteers; act as stage manager during Q&A sessions and special events in the theaters; be available to visiting filmmakers during their screenings.

Transportation Assistant
Will assist transportation coordinator with all aspects of the job.

Interns
Internships for students or those interested in Festival experience are available in many departments including guest services, transportation, print traffic, operations, publications and administration. Interns must be available a minimum of ten hours per week during regular business hours. If you are interested in an internship, send a letter and resume to the email or fax below.
